What is a Certified Hand Therapist?
A Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) is a Occupational or Physical Therapist who has a minimum of 5 years of
clinical experience, including 4,000 hours or more specifically treating upper quarter injuries. Certification is voluntary and difficult to attain as
it involves advanced study and training to meet rigorous standards. A CHT also must pass a comprehensive certification exam of advanced clinical skills
and theory in upper quarter rehabilitation. CHTs are therapists who demonstrate a personal dedication to the profession of hand therapy and a desire for
advanced competency.
Why should you insist on working with a CHT?
Hand injuries can be devastating and proper treatment for maximal recovery is most desired. The CHT credential
offers assurance to the patient that the therapist has achieved the highest level of competency in treating those injuries.
